About this map
All thirteen major ports plus the minor ports the exam keeps naming, plotted coast by coast from Kandla to Port Blair. Each marker notes what the port handles and the one tag examiners use.
The exam tests ports three ways: east coast versus west coast placement, the "which is NOT a major port" elimination, and newsmaker ports (Vizhinjam, Vadhavan, the proposed Nicobar transhipment hub).
Watch for renamed ports: Deendayal (Kandla), Syama Prasad Mookerjee (Kolkata), V.O. Chidambaram (Tuticorin). Renames are a favourite trap in the year after they happen.
