About this map
Forty-seven rivers drawn at the point the exam cares about: usually the mouth, or a verified Indian point where the mouth lies outside India. Each marker names the river system, the states it touches, and its signature tributaries.
UPSC loves three angles here: east-flowing versus west-flowing, tributary direction (left bank or right bank), and the "which river does NOT" elimination. The Ganga-Brahmaputra-Indus systems alone cover a third of all river questions.
For peninsular rivers, fix the source-to-mouth order and which states each crosses. Inter-state river disputes (Cauvery, Krishna, Mahanadi) turn directly into prelims questions.
